The Hidalgo County Planning Department is responsible for:
  • Guiding and managing the growth of the unincorporated areas of the County through policies
  • Overseeing decisions and regulations adopted by the Hidalgo County Commissioners Court
  • Reviewing and issuing light and water certificates
  • Conducting site plan reviews / inspections for compliance with setback requirements and commercial requirements
  • Conducting investigations of complaints relating to subdivision plat note violations and follow up with proper enforcement guidelines
  • Coordinating Subdivision Advisory Board meetings in order to meet the requirements of the County Subdivision regulations
