The Hidalgo County Treasurer is elected by voters of Hidalgo County for a term of four years. The Hidalgo County Treasurer must maintain an office at the County seat (Tex. Const. Art. XVI, Sec. 44; Local Government Code Chapter 83).

Responsibilities
The statutory duties of the County Treasurer include the receipt, custody, and disbursement of County funds.

In addition to the statutory duties, the Hidalgo County Treasurer also serves as the following:
  • Hidalgo County Investment Officer
  • Chairperson for the Hidalgo County Investment Committee
  • Member of the Hidalgo County Bail Bond Board
