Hidalgo County Community Supervision and Corrections Dept. (Adult Probation) hosted their First Legislative Forum on Tuesday, July 24th, contributing counties included, Starr County CSCD and Cameron/Willacy County CSCD. Legislative members, candidates and staff from districts 20, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 , 40, and 41 were also in attendance.

Ray Allen, former Legislative member and Chair of the House Committee on Corrections spoke at length about the legislative process and the criminal justice system in Texas, with emphasis on the role that adult probation plays in the system. The criminal justice system in Texas has been nationally recognized for its efforts in utilizing Evidenced Based Practices to manage a growing prison population by balancing reducing recidivism and protecting the community.
